QAA Institutional Review
The Royal College of Art was visited by a team of reviewers from the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) in May 2012.
The report from this Institutional review is available from the QAA’s website. The review led to judgements in three areas, and the RCA is pleased that the report confirms:
- that its academic standards meet UK
expectations for threshold standards
- tthat the quality of student learning
opportunities at the College meets UK expectations
- tthat the enhancement of student learning opportunities at the College meets UK expectations.
The report identifies two features of institutional good practice, namely the effective relationship between the College and the student body, and the College’s commitment to professional practice and employability.
The report also makes five recommendations for action, and affirms one action that the College is already undertaking.
In accordance with the QAA’s post-review expectations, the RCA devised an action plan that addresses these recommendations and features of good practice. This document was discussed and agreed at the College’s Academic Standards Committee and Senate, both of which include student representation, and published on the website at the end of November 2012. Thereafter, it is to be updated annually until all actions have been completed. The action plan was last updated in October 2013.
