Educators who practice what they teach are a vital ingredient of the Royal College of Art experience.
First and foremost, staff are professional artists and designers. This provides the invaluable perspective of working art and design professionals constantly embracing and evolving new ideas that all our teaching staff are able to bring to their academic work. There is a sense of staff and students working together, experimenting, learning, reflecting and disseminating – challenging each others assumptions and ways of working so that they emerge with a stronger sense of what they do.
In Your Own Words
In Your Own Words is a collection of thematic articles giving insight into the experience of teaching at the Royal College of Art. Produced by the Academic Development Office, with support from the RCA’s Learning and Teaching Committee, they aim to provoke discussion on the nature of art and design education within a specialist postgraduate institution.
