The Royal College of Art is committed to ensuring that our students are equipped with the skills they need to succeed.
Advice and practical workshops on all aspects of business are built into the curriculum of all our MA degrees, and upon graduating many alumni continue to be supported by a business aftercare scheme.
FuelRCA is the Royal College of Art College-wide professional development service. Founded in 2005 to help RCA students prepare for life after graduation, and to support RCA alumni as they set up their own practices or businesses and gain employment in the creative industries, Fuel complements the discipline-specific support given by all RCA programmes.
Fuel services include technical aspects of professional development such as intellectual property, finance and business skills, together with the personal 'soft' skills such as confidence and resilience that are increasingly in demand in today’s changing world. So whether you want to set up a company, get help with finding a stimulating job, or hear how other creative people in the Royal College of Art community have succeeded, have a look around the FuelRCA website.
InnovationRCA is the Royal College of Art’s centre for incubation and business support, helping students and graduates transform compelling ideas into successful businesses.
We aim to introduce new knowledge, new products and new practices to a wide variety of businesses by teaming alumni with a network of industries. Our mission is to strengthen the culture of design innovation and entrepreneurialism at the Royal College of Art. We provide a rich programme of professional development support to RCA students and graduates to better prepare them for successful careers.
ReachOutRCA is the Royal College of Art’s outreach programme, establishing inspirational and innovative exchanges between young people, their teachers and the RCA community.
ReachOutRCA provides focused support and tutorials to around 40 students and graduates who lead our workshops each year. Some already have experience of working in participatory contexts, while others have not been in a classroom since they were at school. Whatever their experience, we work closely with each workshop leader to plan and deliver a workshop that is considered, ambitious and inspiring.
Our programme encourages students and graduates to articulate their ideas and working methods to those outside their peer group, develop teaching skills and experience, and consider themselves within a community of practice within and beyond the College.
