MA work

MA work

My work involves a dynamic process originally discovered by 18th century Staffordshire potters, whereby two liquids react on contact to form a delicate balance between forces of stability and instability. I attempt to reveal the connections between the mystery and essence of life and the alchemy of this ceramic process in order to reflect an understanding of our living world. In suggesting the common bond and the interdependent nature of life systems, both micro and macro, I reveal the interplay between scientific speculation and the humble domesticity of the plate.
