Short-term housing for new labour in Seoul
If there always has been a close relationship between home and labour, how can we establish a place to live, study and work responding to the new conditions of labour and rapid urbanisation?Â
In 2013, 17 per cent of Koreans aged 20 to 30 were not in employment, education or training (NEET). Also, with ever growing sqm price, the city forces young workers to live in ever smaller housing.
The project can accommodate 1,400 highly educated self programmed workers who have chosen to live and work together as freelancers and artists in the era of creative economy. It is funded by a conglomerate, SMEs located in Seoul Digital Complex, which maintains the property rights of each unit. Companies are able to outsource every aspect of their production to individuals and make a larger profit. At the same time, they should produce idea for companies at the price of dwelling. As being employed becomes a moral obligation, it provides the illusion of preventing precarious life and work, keeping the workers busy for different companies.
Also, the project take Bang(room) culture to the extreme in different ways to highlight small-sized communal spaces for Korean's collective life. Bang was isolated and disconnected. Inhabitants can have myriad of choice on 16 different types of collective space by renting this minimised individual space. Therefore, the housing isconceived to allow the possibility of working in connection to any other activities.

I am interested in the intersection between space, materials and sensory tools, with an emphasis on how this influences the way space is designed, built and intercommunicated with human sense, and how it creates emotional psychological sympathy.
