My Tameless Roadhog
My initial inspiration came from Japanese Decotora truck subculture, particularly drivers who spend their entire lives decorating their trucks. But at the same time they are ordinary and hard working guys who deliver goods every day. They are outsiders. They live strong and their pride and masculinity shows through the glitz of their trucks.
I combine two elements within my collection: Japanese sensuality and powerful Western masculinity. I looked at traditional Japanese dress and crafts in order to combine both. Distinguishing features of my work are strong silhouettes, tradition, innovative fabrics, and a certain impracticality.
