STANDART THINKING is a collaborative project run by Lise Hovesen and Javier Rodriguez. Over the past two years the RCA has provided a platform to activate: AcrossRCA: food fieldtrips, performance/movement workshops with Nissa Nishikawa, a Rupert Sheldrake lecture & RedTape panel discussions ‘Changing Perspectives’, on subversion, fields, education and senses.
We now aim to develop our base, the old Library in Rotherhithe, London, as an alternative learning space focusing on thinking in terms of multidiscipline; fostering social, ecological and economical interdependence and promoting common-sense, sustainability and well-being.
Aiming to revert the problems of a highly specialised professional world and encourage cross-fertilization and dialogue, we will provide a meeting place for the integration of practices and skill sharing between artists/designers, food producers + economists etc. This experimental project will incorporate designing productive systems, social ecology, movement/performance, therapies + crafts, and will take the form of workshops, publications, film screenings, critical forums, Laboratory for Urban Agriculture + experimental kitchen.
PermanentCULTURE as a new paradigm for design and a practical philosophy for everyday life; providing a radical tool for individual and community empowerment, encouraging ‘active citizenship’, with its ethos of self-reliance and creating meaningful mutually beneficial relationships.
Emphasising the importance of building visible models, we are currently developing Aquaponics, a closed-loop system addressing immanent concerns of food production, and our publication ‘FIELDS’ considers the shift from Monoculture to Permaculture. Please get in touch if you would like to come and visit us, put forward ideas for collaboration or financial support.
