In Need of Limits questions western society's current complacency towards survival. By 2048, at current estimates, no wild fish will remain in the sea. Without transformation, technological development and our incapacity for restraint ensure the collapse of the natural infrastructure of 70% of the earth's surface as we continue to ignore our interdependency with the ocean.
By 2028, offshore aqua-culture has privatised the North Sea, subsidised by the pharmaceutical industry, protecting its research resources. The North Sea Fishing Patrol Facility harbours the vessels monitoring fisheries' activity and develops marine pharmacology, simultaneously both preserving and landscaping the sea.
