Our instincts prepare us for risky situations, enabling some degree of personal protection. However, the sheer range of contemporary risks, and the ways in which we encounter them, means it is now far harder to deal with everything life throws at us. Instincts allow faster-than-thought actions and reactions, and they are very effective, so far as they are applicable. However, new risks present a need for new reactions, and due to our rapidly changing environment we no longer have millions, or even thousands, of years to hone these. This project explores how the learning process could be radically accelerated.
