The METAFLUX Platform is a two-day event of Fine Art casting-related talks, discussions, events and actions. This long-awaited gathering of practitioners, historians, educators, artists, founders and students comes in advance of the Royal Academy’s landmark autumn show Bronze featuring 150 works across 6,000 years.
This event offers participants a unique chance to exchange ideas, processes, research and working practices. Participants taking part include Peta Motture (V&A), Prof Ed Allington (artist and Head of Graduate Sculpture, Slade School of Fine Art), Dr Trish Lyons (Research Leader, School of Fine Art, RCA) and Dr Francesca Bewer (Research Curator, Centre for Conservation and Technical Studies, Harvard), with specialists from leading commercial fine art foundries.
The METAFLUX event also signals the formation and inaugural meeting of the Art School Foundry Association (ASFA), including West Wales School of the Arts, Royal College of Art, Chelse College of Art (UAL), Wimbledon College of Art (UAL) and Slade School of Fine Art (UCL).
The aim of this gathering is to act as a knowledge-exchange platform. We welcome art foundry practitioners, scholars and researchers.
