‘Hygge’– Nordic tools for everyday living
The concept of my project is creating a box of basic tools for everyday living, based on three keywords: simplicity, material and light. This is combined with a deep interest in Nordic traditions, our daily rhythms, repetitions and habits.
The designs explore daily intimate contact and the relationships which grow between ourselves and our tableware.
These tools are made to embrace the hand, with a visual and tactile expression of softness and warmth, an ‘invitation to use’ and ‘hygge’ (a Danish word that includes: comfortable, cosy, homely and friendly).
