The Education Market
The British education system is becoming marketised, with the student as consumer. Could this process be combated by a new form of civic ‘Education Market’, which allows learning and the exchange of knowledge to be an active part of public life in the city, thus preventing good education from becoming a walled city for the economic elite? ‘The Education Market’ offers a model for education as regeneration by appropriating the decaying New Covent Garden Market. Through interrogating the form of education and its publicity within the city, this project explores the concept of ‘education without walls’.
