Dr Fernando Rihl is co-founder of Procter-Rihl Architects, a multidisciplinary practice developing design and architecture in the UK and abroad. The practice explores an anthropological approach in architecture, analysing contemporary tribal behaviours, questioning and playing with traditional architectural archetypes. Neo-narrative is explored by a careful sequencing of spaces towards a more sensory approach in architecture.
The practice has expertise in sustainable issues and has developed several low-energy houses.
Procter-Rihl Architects received a RIBA Award (2005) and was shortlisted for Building Design’s Residential Architect of the Year Award (2005) for the Slice House. The project also represented Brazil at the IV Ibero-Latin American Architecture Biennale Award in 2004 and was part of the São Paulo Architecture Biennale in 2005.
The practice has been widely published. Recently published in The Phaidon Atlas of Contemporary World Architecture (Part 2), 2G Dossier, Contemporary Architecture in Latin America and Case Latino Americane.
Rihl is currently working on a new built, low-energy house and three art studios in Highbury (London), as well as developing furniture for Brazilian companies.
