ReachOutRCA: The Royal College of Art’s schools outreach programme

ReachOutRCA provide a varied and rewarding programme of art and design workshops, projects and exhibitions, bringing together RCA students and alumni with disadvantaged secondary school pupils across 14 Inner and Greater London boroughs. The programme’s long-term objective is to achieve greater diversity in the art, design and architecture community by engaging pupils who have potential in art or design but may face barriers in taking it to a higher level due to personal, social or cultural factors.

In the three years since its launch, the programme has reached out to over 2,300 pupils and 100 teachers, giving 160 RCA students and graduates the opportunity to extend their practice and to work with a new audience. The programme is unique in offering an outreach programme focused on contemporary art and design at MA level though practical workshops and has become an example of best practice.

Sponsorship of SHOW RCA’s dedicated education programme is available from June 2013.
