R_E_D projects have explored eco-economic solutions to shrinking cities in Wuppertal, Germany (EMPTYing CITIES), and Hull, UK (The Seed Catalogue); the relationship between flooding and urban design in the London Borough of Newham’s Royal Docks (EnLUDe 2); and with the Universities of East London, Cambridge, Birmingham and São Paulo, Brazil, environmentally led urban design in Barra Funda, a large brownfield site earmarked for development by the city of São Paulo (EnLUDe 1).
R_E_D has designed a low-cost/low-energy prefab housing unit for ErgoHome Ltd and a low-impact theatre and support buildings on an ecologically fragile site in Evia, Greece (Sistovari Theatre).
It has been part of Team EAST in a competitive international urban design workshop in Gothenburg, Sweden, and has consulted for the Malmö City Planning Department on climate-led urban design for a mixed-use development in Malmö, Sweden, and for Rother District Council on an EU INTERREG twenty-first-century parks project developing new uses for coastal open spaces in Camber, UK, and Oostende, Belgium.
