  • The programme offers MPhil and PhD by project and thesis. For more details see Completing an MPhil/PhD.

The Textiles programme has a thriving research community with 12 research students supervised by staff such as Claire Pajaczkowska and Freddie Robins who are international experts in their field. The programme also houses the ‘Materials for Life’ Research Hub led by Professor Clare Johnston, Board Member of MADE, the Materials and Design Exchange, part of the UK Materials Knowledge Transfer Network.

The Research hub hosted the ‘Inspiring Matter’ conference in April 2012.

Applicants are invited to write via email to Dr Claire Pajaczkowska, Senior Research Tutor in the School of Material, with a draft proposal before 16 January 2013. Research can be by thesis or by project, either full- or part-time study. Candidates may be invited for informal discussion before being encouraged to make a formal application to the College. Applicants will be offered an interview in March or April and be informed of the outcome in May or June for the course, which starts in October.
