Please consider the appropriateness of your proposed subject within
this Animation programme. You will normally have experience in the
field of animation and/or film. See further Research information, including Current or Recent Areas of Research.
The Animation programme requires that you send in an initial draft proposal (see below for guidelines) outlining your research question or field of interest. We will discuss with you via email the appropriateness of your proposal and you may then be advised to submit a formal application or be asked for further development. It is advised that you submit your draft proposal by early December 2012 to allow staff time to give you valuable feedback and guidance on your chosen research area, before you submit your application formally online. The deadline for formal applications is 16 January 2013, and online applications can be made from 1 December 2012.
Points to be addressed in your draft proposal:
- What is your particular research question, hypothesis or field?
- Why should the proposed research be carried out in the Animation programme (making reference to particular staff or student work, if appropriate)?
- How will you go about your research? What is your methodology?
- What other work has been done in this area, and how is your research going to add to the investigation?
- Who will benefit from this work?
- How is your particular set of skills relevant for this research subject?
Email your draft proposal to Joe King.
If your draft proposal is suitable, you will be invited to make a full application using the RCA's Online Application form. Please read and address the listed questions carefully and fully. Interviews will be held in March or April. If successful, you will be offered a place in May or June, to begin in October 2013.
