  • Candidates for all MA courses are assessed on their existing qualities as demonstrated in their work and in their interview, as well as on their potential to benefit from the programme and to achieve MA standards overall. The assessment will consider: creativity, imagination and innovation evident in the work; ability to articulate the intentions of the work; intellectual engagement in relevant areas; appropriate technical skills; overall interview performance, including oral use of English.


    We seek to enrol students who:

    • are imaginative, self-motivated, determined, passionate about their discipline, technically curious and professionally orientated
    • understand that their commitment to the course is a significant investment in their future.

    Portfolio

    • Recent work including sketchbooks, research and design development.
    • All work should be marked with the year it was executed.
    • CD-ROMs and slides will be accepted though are not considered to be an ideal way of assessing your work.
    • A finished toile relating to one of your current portfolio design projects should be included.
    • If applying to a specialism, your submission should contain a relevant prototype. Please state ‘Fashion Womenswear’ and, where appropriate, the area of specialism to which you are applying, clearly in capital letters, both on the application form and on the labels attached to your portfolio.

    Interview (if invited)

    • You will be required to present a portfolio of work in progress and a set project.
    • A personal research proposal is also required for discussion at this stage.

  • Applications 2013/14

    Online applications for 2013/14 entry opened on 1 November 2012. The priority closing date has now passed, and applications received are being assessed. Programmes will continue to accept late applications for MA programmes for entry in Autumn 2013, and all programmes welcome enquiries regarding MA, MPhil and PhD study throughout the year.

  • Bursaries
