  • Specialism: Printed Textiles

My PhD research develops production processes incorporating origami, shibori, printing and fusing techniques to create textiles that sustain 3D adaptable form with little or no supporting substructure. The controlled packing, deployment and structural stability these textiles offered suggest applications in engineering, apparel, product and architectural design. I have devised transferable templates of folding that can be reinterpreted in a variety of materials and scales. Both form and behaviour of these textiles can be customised, enabling light transmission, electrical conductivity, thermal or sound insulation properties to be varied, as required.
