This project questions the dilemma of a ‘tonic to the nation’, where human needs are offset against a business agenda.
The UK Government predicts the greying of the English countryside, with rural communities facing an upsurge of elderly, lonely residents.
Concurrently, scientists have recently grown a new heart from the scaffolding of an old one. An existing proposal for a biomedical facility utilises these trends, harvesting its crop of lonely hearts in a bid to ‘cure’ the countryside of its elderly residents.
The project tests the hypothesis that architecture can be generated from an emotion.
