Conor Wilson (Belfast, 1964): I studied ceramics in Bristol and Cardiff and have since exhibited in a wide variety of contexts – public art, performance, multi-media sculpture and pottery. I was awarded a Jerwood Contemporary Makers prize in 2010 and have a modest, but growing international profile – work is held in several permanent collections, including that of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and has been profiled in publications such as Extra/ordinary: Craft culture and contemporary art (Duke University Press, 2011), Contemporary Ceramics (Thames & Hudson, 2009) and Made for Love (Stichting Kunstboek, 2009). I also work as a freelance lecturer in theory and practice in art and design. My attention has increasingly shifted from the production of objects to the processes of making and the value of skill, which has led to my current research into making, writing and the sites at which they occur.
