Since 2003 Mathew Holloway has worked mostly with start-ups and small businesses, initially within an innovative software team leading the development of new products, and more recently working freelance on a variety of projects, including interactive toys, e-learning systems, interactive books, exhibitions and events. This experience complemented his engineering background with a wide range of programming, software and prototyping skills.
These projects have ranged from art installations, including the creation of a visual search engine for Musée d’Art Moderne (Mudam) to commercial projects for large multinational corporations.
In 2008 the company Artica Technologies was set up to commercialise a low energy alternative to air conditioning developed with the other founders of Artica during their final year group project at the RCA. The award winning technology reduces energy consumption in commercial buildings by up to 90%. Mathew took the lead within the company successfully raising capital and bringing the product to market.
The Artica team have collectively won a number of awards including:
CNBC and Allianz's Good Entrepreneur; HSBC Start Up Stars – Graduate Award; Audi Design Foundation – Designs for Life; Feel The Planet Earth – Cifal Design Award; Carbon Connections – Low Carbon Innovation Competition.
