The Research Supervisors’ Training Day is an annual workshop where external speakers are invited to provide training to RCA supervisors on a variety of supervisory skills. The Research Supervisors Training Day 2009–10 was held on 17 November 2009.

Professor Michael Biggs, Professor of Aesthetics at the University of Hertfordshire, spoke about supervising practice-based research degrees. Ellen Pearce, Director of Vitae (www.vitae.ac.uk), gave a policy update on the 'Research Development Framework.' Dr Claire Pajaczkowska, Research Tutor in the School of Fashion & Textiles, led a lively discussion about pastoral care for research students with Dr Lesley Caldwell, Psychotherapist and Hon. Senior Research Fellow, UCL, and Maya Zvigi Cohen, RCA Counsellor.
