  • If we are facing a global energy crisis, our solutions will need to be dramatic, free-thinking and ahistorical, approaching the problem of our continued survival without reliance on the earth’s dwindling non-renewable resources. The premise of Nuclear is Good. What Will It Take to Convince You? is that historical judgements will need to be consigned to history.

I am interested in asking strategic questions about the future. This project is designed to test and engage with the future implications of policy and energy choices, and poses the question: ‘Nuclear is Good. What will it take to convince you?’

There needs to be a fundamental rethinking of how we approach energy production in the face of climate change. The nuclear renaissance offers a clean, near-limitless energy solution that could allow us to meet CO2 emission targets without going short as consumers, but science has consistently failed to put forward a convincing argument.

What would it take to convince the wider public that nuclear energy provides a viable and desirable solution to our energy dilemma?

What if we ask for protective barrage balloons, establish concrete emergency services and resign ourselves to the perceived ‘hazards'? What if we embrace pet polar bears and pineapple ice cream along with other benefits that nuclear energy could bring? And what if not; are we prepared for blackouts instead?

The designed argument of the project has been shaped through conversations with professionals from the fields of ethics, political science, materials chemistry, town planning and the Department of Energy and Climate Change.
