Tim Webb is an animation director currently represented by
Sweetworld TV. His film work has longevity through repeated festival
screening, DVD sales and broadcast. He has made commissioned work for
Channel 4 and the Arts Council of England.
In his research he has developed three interactive editing
workshops, which are accessed through the College Intranet. He also is
developing a number of film projects for potential commission.
His most prominent work, A is for Autism (1992), continues to gain exposure in Animated Documentary screenings.
Tim Webb is Senior Tutor in Animation and has worked at the Royal
College of Art since 1996. He became a member of the Higher Education
Academy in 2007.
Having abandoned a career in dental technology to study animation,
Tim Webb worked for several years as a freelance animator before being
commissioned by Channel 4 to devise and direct his first multi
award-winning film, A is for Autism.
He went on to direct 15th February, an Arts Council
England/Channel 4 'animate!' film, which also won several prizes,
including the 1995 ICA Dick Award as ‘the most provocative, innovative
and subversive short film of the year’, and the main prize at the first
Poetry Film Festival, ZEBRA, Berlin 2002. In 1996 he co-directed Crayon Box,
a 90-second public service announcement for USA television at Pizazz
Pictures and contributed animation direction to Silence Halo
Productions – including storyboarding, colour design, layouts and
animation. He wrote, directed and animated the BAFTA-nominated Six of One Creative Film Productions for Channel 4 in 2000. More recently his first digital film, Mr Price, was selected as one of the ‘animate!’ 2003 slate of projects. A reflection on illusions and representation from mid-life, Mr Price is about how we understand the world and people around us.
Tim Webb has taught at various universities and colleges over the
last fifteen years. He has acted as external examiner a number of times
and been a member of validation panels.
Tim has also devised and run a number of animation workshops abroad
and been a member of many international animation juries. He has also
been invited to be part of festival panel discussions and presented a
number of RCA animation retrospectives.
