Rebecca Davies’ work is about people and places. She is interested in environments that have what some might consider to be a ‘chequered’ past and are undergoing regeneration.
In an attempt to celebrate these locations and their residents, Rebecca documents them through sound recording, illustration and video work, learning from the people that live and work in these places. Past and ongoing projects include Dungeness, the Elephant and Castle and Coney Island.
Rebecca has studied the Elephant and Castle community for two years whilst it awaits the day it is bulldozed. Another project, ‘Eric’ documents the funeral: from Eric’s last year in a care home, to picking his coffin in the funeral parlour and the wake in a Coventry working men’s club.
