My work lies in observation. Observation of movement, behaviour, relationships and conversations. I like to overhear people on the bus, to accidentally record my parents’ conversations and to make narratives about the truths and the messages that lie behind all of those words. I use my sketchbooks as the source of my observation, observing the subject more than the paper, allowing them to have space to themselves, spontaneity and improvisation of movement as well as ambiguity of their motives.
I am not interested in viewers leaving with a clear understanding or answer to my films. I would like them to leave with a feeling of what the film and my drawings have evoked to them.
