ADS4: IMMORTALITY
Curing Huburbia
Can disease-tech galvanise foreign interest to preserve a legacy of British medical innovation and catalyse urban regeneration? Bioscience labs are currently transforming the way we understand disease: Escherichia coli drives biocomputers, viral phage therapies defeat superbugs and disease-resistant livestock are a reality. This project proposes the transformation of a deprived urban quarter in Deptford into a research incubator hub, where private entrepreneurialism nourishes an academic pursuit of knowledge. In particular, the scheme frames the manipulation of disease as not just pursued by walled-in pharma-giants but proposes it as a locally binding and inclusive community process.
