Human behaviour and social interaction is at the heart of my work, with particular reference to spectatorship.
As research during my studies at the RCA I became a member of an ‘ephemeral community’ when embarking on a cruise. As with most touristic experiences, systems were in place to control movement and govern the tourists’ daily routine. I was fascinated by these systems and the social dynamics that surrounded the encounters with unfamiliar territories.
In response, I construct pictures intuitively from the real and the imagined, allowing tensions to occur between figures and undecipherable narratives to develop.
