Anthony Dunne's research explores new roles, contexts and methods for design as a form of critique. This way of thinking about design is becoming an accepted part of design discourse and is often described as 'Critical Design.'
He is currently exploring how 'Critical Design' can be applied to future scenarios and emerging technologies in relation to public debate and engagement. His research is a combination of practice and theory and is usually expressed through collections of speculative prototypes exploring specific themes, and accompanying essays, books or booklets reflecting on ideas and issues surrounding the project. His research is currently funded through a combination of grants and commissions and is disseminated through exhibitions and publications.
