For the past decade Clare Carolin has curated and organised exhibitions in a wide variety of media and formats. Many of these projects have involved the complete redesign and rebuilding of gallery interiors, work that she has undertaken herself, or in consultation/collaboration with artists and architects. This process has led to the development of her interest in the phenomenology of the exhibition experience. In particular how space, text, architecture and the moving image function in relation to each other in the gallery context. Clare Carolin is dedicated to investigating the history of these key relationships in modern and contemporary aesthetics, and to developing new cinematic and spatial paradigms through exhibition curation and publication.
