    Research

  • Joe Kerr has published widely on the history and theory of Modern Architecture and Urbanism. He is co-editor of Strangely Familiar: Narratives of Architecture and the City (Routledge: 1995), The Unknown City: Contesting Architecture and Social Space (MIT: 2000). He has co-curated various exhibitions, including Strangely Familiar (Royal Institute of British Architects, etc. 1995) and Millennium Products (The British Council/ The Design Council, 1998). He has written for The Architects Journal, Architecture Today, Building Design, Blueprint, Royal Academy Magazine, The Independent and The Guardian amongst others, and has lectured widely in Britain, Europe and the United States. He has also worked with the education programmes of Tate Britain, The Design Museum, the Museum of London , the Victoria & Albert Museum and the National Art Collections Fund. He is a regular presenter of radio documentaries in the fields of art, architecture and design, including Giacometti (Sunday Feature, BBC Radio 3 2001), Rivals in Stone (documentary series, Radio 4 2002), Fallen Heroes (documentary series, Radio 4 2003), and RouteMasters (documentary series, Radio 4 2004). He has sat on the Architecture Advisory Panel for the Arts Council England and the Art for Architecture Panel for the Royal Society for the Arts, and is a member of the editorial panel for The Journal of Visual Culture and the Architects' Newspaper, USA.
