Students should have a good first degree in a fine art subject. Most students begin their research degree as an MPhil with the option of transferring to PhD after the first or second year.
When interviewing, we give careful consideration to both the candidate and the subject being proposed. Research students need to put forward a detailed outline proposal using the criteria outlined in the application form. The subject should be related to the interests of the programme. Guidelines on how to prepare your provisional proposal can be found here.
We also encourage prospective research students to discuss their proposal with a member of the staff team before making an application. If you’d like to do this, please contact the Programme Administrator.
