  • I began looking at the solar-powered torch. It is vital that a solar-power product has prolonged exposure to light in order to function effectively. This makes a solar-powered torch difficult to put away.

I designed a torch that is stored in a visible location. The handles of doors are typically used for 'Do not Disturb' signs in hotels. I combined this archetype with the solar-powered torch, so that the door handle stores a night-light, or an emergency torch.

One side of the product a customisable 'glow in the dark' message is displayed. The other side absorbs energy from light, powering the torch, whilst the torch itself shines from the bottom.

This project was produced as part of the Sunny Memories project.
