  • Putting people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at the heart of the design process, we created a product tailored to the needs of teenagers with ASD. Squease is a garment that allows the wearer to apply deep pressure to their body in order to create a calming effect. It has integrated headphones that reduce the sound level of noises that cause discomfort to people with hypersensitive hearing, which is common for those with ASD. We gained insight from interviews with experts and most importantly time spent with children with ASD and their families. We discovered their needs differed hugely, but all are highly sensitive to anxiety. With its generous hood, noise control and pressure application features, Squease allows the wearer to feel protected and at ease on the move.
