Does one ever stop remembering?
I explore processes of memory through oral ‘rituals’ (i.e channelling) to come to terms with a personal and collective history. Having an appreciation for artificiality, these phantasmagorias construct, or even simulate a certain reality. Perhaps what is at play is the contingency of memory, which is enacted through a dialectical opposition between voice and image. Truth and truthfulness become distinct terms from one and other, corresponding to ideas around immediacy and mediation.
Mediation then must be our practical fiction.
