  • Economics, science, technology and culture... trends, fictions and beliefs. I’m interested in how these interact to shape our present and possible futures. I imagine scenarios, design products and undertake projects that aim to amplify ambiguities in technological and social change.

The Toaster Project chronicles my attempt to build an electric toaster from scratch. Digging up the raw materials, smelting metals, hand moulding the plastic parts – the lengths required to create just a single toaster are absurd. By making a mass produced item on a singular scale, The Toaster Project questions our understanding of the epic, amazing and terrifying process of making ‘things’.
