The Toaster Project chronicles my attempt to build an electric toaster from scratch. Digging up the raw materials, smelting metals, hand moulding the plastic parts – the lengths required to create just a single toaster are absurd. By making a mass produced item on a singular scale, The Toaster Project questions our understanding of the epic, amazing and terrifying process of making ‘things’.
