  • This scheme works within the extreme limitations of the site (with no aspect to the street and where light- and sight-lines were predetermined) to develop a new contextual language using optical games and the sensuality of materials to open up and maximise the space.

A swimming pool of glass forms a giant magnifying lens. A well of polarised glass varies light levels through the building during the day, while an ‘architectural periscope’ brings views of the garden into a basement studio.
