  • The experience of being part of the Sculpture programme frequently has lifelong implications for graduates. The dynamisim of high-achieving students creates a sense of momentum and appetite that cannot be underestimated. The relationships formed with peer groups across the College and the opportunities created through encounters with professional tutors and visitors often means that the boundaries that might exist between the idea of a ‘sheltered’ student and a creative individual at large in the world is often already blurred. Luck also plays a part.

The arts have a breadth and diversity that is reflected in post-College life. Today’s students are highly sophisticated and adaptable. Many become involved in exhibiting through museums, commercial galleries, online, at pop-up spaces or in the landscape. They become writers, musicians and curators. They become artists that cook and artists’ assistants. They form collectives. They teach, lecture, run workshops and take PhDs. They evolve a capacity to balance and maintain part-time lives – one foot in creative privacy and another in ‘how to survive’. This adaptability is a strength. Circumstances can change. What rarely diminishes is the ability to see the world through creative eyes.
