News: Julie Verhoeven Designs RCA Christmas Card

  • Fashion designer, artist, illustrator and RCA Fashion tutor Julie Verhoeven has designed a Christmas card exclusively for the Royal College of Art, available to buy from late November.

Entitled Ho, Ho, Ho, the design is a photograph of a collage consisting of glitter, broken baubles, candles and Christmas ephemera. At the centre of the card is a hand-drawn illustration of a woman’s face, a recurring theme in Verhoeven’s work.

Julie Verhoeven is a tutor on the RCA’s Fashion Womenswear course.  She works in numerous ways across fashion and design, from illustration to creative direction and design consultancy. Previous roles include working with John Galliano, Martine Sitbon and as head of Italian brand Gibo as well as collaborations with international fashion brands Louis Vuitton, Mulberry and most recently Versace.

Verhoeven's love of drawing is always at the heart of her work. Since 2002 she has exhibited extensively, with recent solo exhibitions at ZINGERpresents (Amsterdam) and Riflemaker (London). Her upcoming solo exhibition Fannying Around is at Concrete, The Hayward Gallery from 9 January - 15 February and group show Voo-Doo at Riflemaker from 19 January - 4 April 2009.

RCA Christmas cards are priced at £1 each, £4 for pack of 5 or £7.50 for pack of 10 (plus postage) available to buy in person from the RCA Shop from 1 December or to pre-order call 020 7590 4165 or email: shop@rca.ac.uk. Profits from the sale of cards goes to the RCA Student Fund.
