Sarah Dallas is senior tutor in the School of Material, responsible for Fashion Knitwear and Knitted Textiles. Graduating from the University of Middlesex (formerly Middlesex Polytechnic) and the Royal College of Art, Sarah established her own company, designing and producing womenswear and menswear knitwear collections, under the Sarah Dallas label. Exhibiting at trade fairs in London, Paris, Milan and New York, the collections were sold to major stores worldwide, including Harrods and Harvey Nichols in London and Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus in the USA. Sarah was awarded the British Design Award for Excellence in 1987 for the Sarah Dallas Collections of Autumn/Winter 1986 and Spring/Summer 1987. Consultancy work during this time included designing for Next, Rowan, Charnos Knitwear, Courtaulds Lingerie, Courtaulds European Fibres and the International Wool Secretariat. Sarah has taught and examined on Fashion and Textile courses nationwide, including the University of the Arts, the University of Brighton and Winchester School of Art. She established the Fashion Knitwear course at the Royal College of Art in 1989 and has been senior tutor in Fashion and Textiles since 1992.
