Mary Ann Bolger teaches Design History and Theory at the Waterford Institute of Technology. She lectures and has published on issues in Irish typography and visual culture and on the material culture of religion. Forthcoming publications include a monograph on a leading Irish design consultancy, Design Factory (BIS, 2008), and a chapter in 'Made in Ireland': Ireland and the Materialisation of National Identity, 1922–1992 edited by Elaine Sisson and Linda King (Cork University Press).

A graduate of the joint RCA/V&A MA in History of Design, Mary Ann is a member of the Institute of Designers in Ireland, a founder member of Typography Ireland, and represents Ireland at the Association Typographique International.
