Whilst unpopular wars and astronomic budgets are damaging the army’s public image, psychological trauma and reintegration difficulties have left our boys feeling alienated and undervalued. The Military Covenant – the nation’s duty to look after its servicemen – is in peril. Breaching the Imperial War Museum, the traditional barracks selectively exposes itself to exchanges with the outside world. A PR showpiece that reintegrates the military extension of the state into civic life, Home Front is an architectural critique of our relationship with an uncomfortable reality protecting a comfortable way of life.
