    MPhil/PhD Entrance Requirements

  • The History of Design Programme welcomes applications from students who would like to undertake an MPhil/PhD in an aspect of design history and material culture. We welcome applications from students of all ages and view both prior academic and professional experience as being valuable.

When interviewing, we give careful consideration to both the candidate and the subject being proposed. Research students need to put forward a detailed outline proposal using the criteria outlined in the Application Form. The subject should be related to the interests of the programme. Applicants should also consult the short staff biographies on the History of Design Research website to understand the range of expertise available.

We encourage prospective research students to discuss their proposal with a member of the staff team before making an application. If you’d like to do this, please contact the Programme Administrator.
