  • Partnerships

Three programmes in the College work in formal partnerships with sister institutions in South Kensington:

    • Industrial Design Engineering works closely with Imperial College London
    • RCA/V&A Conservation has connections with the Victoria and Albert Museum and Imperial College London
    • V&A/RCA History of Design is linked to the Victoria and Albert Museum

The College also has a developing relationship with the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield, whose MA course is validated by the RCA.

Elsewhere, the Centre for Learning and Teaching in Art and Design is a collaborative venture involving the University of the Arts London (UAL) and the RCA. This helps to support our practitioner staff in their teaching roles but also provides a very popular Preparing To Teach course for students who see a role in education as part of their future careers.

In 2007, we launched a major strategic partnership with Imperial College London to create a world-class £5.8 million multidisciplinary centre called Design London. Its purpose is to bring together the disciplines of design, engineering, technology and business to address the challenges of future innovation. In addition, we have initiatives in partnerships with UAL, Goldsmiths College and London Metropolitan University. These focus on developing our business and industry-related activities.

Programmes also create the opportunity for students to gain vital experience beyond the College. The opportunity for study trips and exchanges arise throughout the academic year. These allow students to visit new places or to spend time in other universities in the UK and abroad.
