The RCA experience is a special one. Just as London is an extraordinarily multicultural city, so the College is a richly multicultural environment in which to study art and design. And with students from over 35 countries enrolled at any one time, we pride ourselves on the diversity and sense of community our students feel. Being at the College has been likened to “being part of a family”. As one of our former students observed, the RCA is “small enough to know everyone and large enough to allow for individualism”; another praised the “real buzz” to be found from having so many creative people together in one place. That buzz doesn’t stop at the RCA’s doors.

In a city where one in four residents is from an ethnic minority background it should come as no surprise that London is a fabulously rich melting pot, something that’s reflected in every part of city life. Quite unlike anywhere else in the world, London is a place where high culture meets street culture, a city where opera, theatre and some of the world’s finest museums rub happily alongside an exuberant underground creative scene. There are an estimated 10,000 artists living and working here – the highest concentration anywhere in the world. As a student you would be studying in the heart of the capital. Within walking distance of the College’s Kensington location there is a wealth of London’s finest museums, galleries, shops and parks for you to enjoy.

Hardly surprising then, that the RCA is central to London’s creative community. Students get involved with the wide range of clubs, galleries and events that take place across the city every day and every night. At the same time, the College works hard to ensure that all its students are given the opportunity to engage with the professional creative community in London over the course of their study.
