Drawing is an important and valuable part of the animation filmmaking
process and key to developing visual thinking. Skill in drawing enables
students to visualise ideas and to create order and sequence to
communicate their ideas via the screen and other media.
The
Animation department runs a series of animation specific workshops,
which focus on developing skills in drawing movement, sequential
thinking, visualising thoughts, memories, and the potential development
of new approaches to drawing.
Most of these innovative drawing
classes take place in the Royal College of Art Drawing Studio, which is
a college-wide resource. The Drawing Studio provides a diverse range of
additional courses, workshops, classes and events that are open to all
students and staff. The space is also available for students’ personal
projects, such as improvising scenes from their films, working on a
large scale or testing new techniques.
All Drawing Studio equipment is supplied and all materials (for use in the Drawing Studio) are FREE to students and staff.
