Ana Beatriz Ferreira da Rocha e Silva, in History of Design, receives funding for her research into national identity and culture in architectural production after the Second World War. Livia Rezende, in History of Design is funded by CAPES to research the Brazilian quest for modernity and national identity through participation in international exhibitions from 1851 to 1922.

    CNPq

The National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) is a foundation linked to the Ministry of Science and Technology, to support Brazilian research by promoting and stimulating the scientific and technological development of the country and contributing to the formulation of national science and technology policy. Today some 30,000 active professionals hold a doctorate, and at least 22,000 of them gained their PhD with the help of CNPq. These investments contribute both to the increase in the production of knowledge and to the generation of new growth opportunities for the country.

In the RCA’s Vehicle Design department, CNPq is supporting Osmar Rodrigues in his research into the design of vehicles for use over irregular ground and Kleber Puchaski in his research into the future of branding in car design. In addition, Jorge Roberto Lopes Dos Santos, in Design Products, receives CNPq funding for his exploration of the impact of physical three-dimensional modelling on the design process.
