    Income from Industrial Sources

  • Industrial sponsorship for research has been obtained from a variety of business, professional and voluntary sector sources.

    From 2002 to 2007, the Helen Hamlyn Research Associates programme secured £1.2 million from industrial partners for projects relating to inclusive design and commercial innovation. Industrial sponsors have included Orange, Philips, BT, Intel, Toyota, GlaxoSmithKline and Steelcase. Business and industry partners who have provided externally funded endowments for Research Fellows, students and projects include Intel, Madame Tussaud’s, Kinnarps and the Onassis Foundation. Barker’s SmartSlab project received €1,700,000 from Targetti Lighting, Italy, and £300,000 from London Capital Finance. Walker received £10,000 from HealthSmart Ltd (UCL), £40,000 from the Steirischer Herbst in Graz, Austria, and £55,000 from commerce, the Government of Singapore and the Arts Council for software development.
