Consultancy
Guidance and best practice for implementation and use of software, hardware, systems and services for administration, infrastructural or academic purposes.
Desktop Support
Dedicated team for all staff and researchers, and for students in Applied Arts and Humanities schools, including:
- technical support for open access computer clusters
- set up, installation and maintenance of staff computers and software
- support for network configuration, productivity software, e-mail, basic image processing and printing
- technology clinics, which are open for students every afternoon during term time.

Authoritative and complete online directory of staff and student College contact information - containing all current programme and functional groups.
Equipment Disposal
Regular, secure and environmentally-friendly disposal of redundant IT equipment.
Email and Messaging
Email, SMS, chat and instant messaging services are supported. Every enrolled student, contracted member of staff and researcher is entitled to one fully qualified email account, which can be used from anywhere with a reliable internet connection.
Email for Life for Students
Graduating students can opt to have their RCA email accounts for life by joining the free Alumni RCA scheme. This will also provide access to many valuable free online services.

Advice and procurement of technology for staff and students.
Computer purchasing Portal with discounted personal computers and software licences for staff and students.
File Services for Staff
Network and web-based file systems and backups and a high capacity web file transfer service.

Scalable very high-performance network file storage and transfer services.
Internet Access
100Mbs leased line
20Mbs ADSL circuits at Howie Street and Kensington for guests and events
Network
Extensive and secure fixed wireless networks for staff, students and visitors across all college buildings.
Network Accounts
Personal accounts are issued to all staff and students, providing local secure access to e-mail and numerous online services for the duration of their studies or employment.
New Technology Development
Web 2 applications including dedicated social networks, blogs, wikis, forums, mashups, widgets and online collaboration spaces.
Software Licenses
A wide range of discounted or free software licenses are available to all RCA staff and students - including Microsoft Office, Adobe CS, Macintosh and Windows OS, Anti Virus, Autodesk 2D and 3D drafting and animation, Rhino 3D modelling software.
Video Conferencing
Four standard systems are available to college staff and students. Two systems can be used anywhere within the RCA. Two occupy dedicated spaces, delivering H.323 standard VC and streaming up to 2Mbs.
